Kal’e Moru beach, a page of history

Kal’e Moru Beach

Kal’e Moru Beach is one of the most enchanting places along the southern coast of Sardinia.

Along this stretch of coastline—where for over a thousand years Saracens landed, raided villages, and oppressed the local population—stands one of the most captivating beaches in southern Sardinia: Kal’e Moru Beach.
This breezy shoreline is a paradise for surfers and for those who enjoy spearfishing and snorkeling. The shallow seabed and the presence of services also make this beach ideal for family holidays.

Where Is Kal’e Moru Beach Located?

Kal’e Moru Beach is located in the municipality of Quartu Sant’Elena, in the Geremeas area, between Mari Pintau and Geremeas Beach, in the easternmost part of the bay, just a short distance from the Sette Fratelli Park.
The name of the beach (literally “Saracen landing”) derives from the historical presence of Saracen invasions, as for a very long time these coasts were targeted by raids that looted villages and terrorized local communities.

Kal’e Moru Beach: A Natural Miracle Repeated

On an island like Sardinia, rich in breathtaking views and striking landscapes, Kal’e Moru Beach stands out as one of the most beautiful beaches in southern Sardinia. Its unique blend of sea and lush vegetation creates a truly evocative spectacle.

The beach: almost three kilometers long and surrounded by rocky outcrops. Its shoreline is made of coarse sand, ranging in color from white to golden hues.

The sea: a crystal-clear expanse that starts as emerald green and gradually turns turquoise as the water deepens. The seabed remains shallow and sandy along this stretch of coast.

The vegetation: at the western end, just steps from the Sette Fratelli Park, the beach ends at a small promontory covered with lush Mediterranean scrub.

Sports and Activities

If you are a surfer, you’ll be pleased to know that the area is quite windy and attracts many enthusiasts who share your passion.
If you practice spearfishing, be sure to bring your equipment—you’ll be in great company here as well.
And if these sports aren’t for you, you can always enjoy a relaxing snorkeling session.

Kal’e Moru Beach: A Family Paradise

Thanks to its beauty and accessibility, Kal’e Moru Beach is very popular—especially during peak season—among families. Along this long stretch of sand, several beach establishments offer the rental of sun loungers and umbrellas, allowing you to spend entire days enjoying the sun and sea.
The shallow waters are perfect for children. Pedal boats and canoes can also be rented for fun excursions offshore or to stay active during your vacation. Those who own a boat or a RIB will find boat storage facilities as well.

There are also several dining options available along the beach. Near the provincial road, you’ll find a mini-market and a bar–tobacconist.
