Simius Beach

Simius Beach, the main beach of Villasimius, is a true gem of Sardinia’s southeastern coast, set on a stunning stretch of white sand. This coastal area combines scenic beauty with full accessibility for families, sports enthusiasts, and people with reduced mobility.

Where is Simius Beach?

Nestled within the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area, established in 1999, Simius Beach is located in the southeastern part of Sardinia, between Is Traias Beach and Timi Ama Beach, about 2 kilometers from Villasimius. The coastline has a characteristic semicircular shape, starting at the Spanish Tower of Porto Giunco and ending at the Porto Luna promontory. In the background, you can admire the islands of Serpentara and Cavoli.

Why Choose Simius Beach?

Simius Beach is one of the most popular in the area because it caters to the tastes and needs of different types of visitors: families, especially those with young children, sports enthusiasts, or anyone simply looking for a break from the winter routine.

The beach is the closest to the town center, so there’s no need to drive—it can easily be reached on foot. Its shallow, sandy seabed is perfect for children to play safely, giving parents peace of mind during their holiday.

Beach equipment is available for rent, allowing visitors to spend entire days on the sand. Boats, canoes, and pedal boats can also be rented for short trips offshore. The beach also has a refreshment point and is accessible for tourists with reduced mobility.

Those who enjoy relaxing, healthy walks along the shore can take full advantage of Simius Beach’s long stretch of soft white sand.

If I Love Sports, Can I Choose Simius Beach?

Absolutely! For those who want to combine relaxing downtime with active moments, this beach offers fun windsurfing and kitesurfing courses, as well as diving centers.

Not interested in these activities but still want to explore the underwater beauty? In that case, a snorkeling trip is perfect for you. Just a few meters from the shore, you can admire sea bream, white seabream, and occasionally even monk seals, sea turtles, and sperm whales. Heading toward Porto Giunco, you’ll reach a shoal inhabited by a colony of triggerfish, a very friendly tropical species. Don’t miss the thrill of seeing them feed right from your hands.

Simius Beach for Nature Lovers

The colors and scents of Sardinia, its picturesque landscapes, close contact with nature, and available services make this region one of the most popular destinations for summer holidays. Simius Beach boasts one of the largest and best-equipped stretches of the southeastern coast. It’s an ideal spot for first-time visitors to the area and, why not, the perfect first stop on a journey to discover an island filled with rare natural gems at every turn.
