Genn’e Mari Beach, the gateway to the sea, together with Cann’e Sisa, adorns the promontory overlooking the Torre delle Stelle bay. A tourist destination on the southeastern coast of Sardinia, between Cagliari and Villasimius.
On the eastern side of the Gulf of Cagliari, between Mari Pintau Beach and Capo Boi, stands a promontory with a rounded profile. A large terrace overlooks a charming bay: Torre delle Stelle. We are halfway between the municipalities of Maracalagonis and Sinnai. On either side of the promontory lie two equally enchanting coves: Cann’e Sisa and Genn’e Mari Beach. Two stretches of white sand that gently slope into the clear, unspoiled waters typical of Sardinia. Torre delle Stelle is one of the favorite holiday destinations for the people of Cagliari, who, in fact, own most of the villas built in the area.
Genn’e Mari Beach – How to Get There
Genn’e Mari Beach is one of the two beaches flanking the promontory on which Torre delle Stelle Bay stretches. To reach it, take Provincial Road 17, which connects Cagliari to Villasimius, and once you pass the small Baccu Mandara promontory, you will find signs for Torre delle Stelle. The first beach you encounter is Cann’e Sisa, facing west, while beyond the promontory lies Genn’e Mari, oriented towards Villasimius. At the top of the promontory, you can admire the Torre de su Fenugu.
Genn’e Mari Beach and the Charm of Torre delle Stelle
Located between Mari Pintau Beach and Capo Boi, both Cann’e Sisa and Genn’e Mari Beach, which means “gateway to the sea,” are worth a visit. Why choose them? Let’s find out together.
- It is very pleasant to walk along its shoreline, which, like most beaches on the western coast of Capo Carbonara, has a bottom made of white sand with golden reflections. The sand is medium-grained.
- It is the perfect place to enjoy well-deserved relaxation after a year of work. The bay is, in fact, bordered by two promontories covered with dense vegetation, made up of juniper and myrtle bushes.
- How could one not enjoy the sea of Sardinia? Its transparency and characteristic emerald-green color make it one of the most beautiful seas in Italy. The seabed, in some areas, is shallow and sandy—ideal for a calm and safe swim.
Torre delle Stelle Bay is one of the favorite destinations of the people of Cagliari. Not surprisingly, most of the villas located behind the two beaches are owned by them.
Genn’e Mari Beach: an Easily Accessible Destination
Genn’e Mari Beach and Cann’e Sisa are very similar, although the latter has richer vegetation, with its dense pine forest typical of the Mediterranean scrub. Both beaches are very popular during the summer months, also thanks to the available services. In fact, it is possible to rent pedal boats and paddleboards, as well as umbrellas, sunbeds, and loungers directly on the beach, and to enjoy a beach bar. In the surrounding area, there are also several dining options. Cann’e Sisa even has a small dock for boats. Additionally, both beaches are easily accessible from the town center.
